Join us at Creators Space for our pilot series of Figure Drawing Sessions! These sessions will be held Wednesday nights from 6:00-8:00pm. During these sessions, we will have live nude models as our subjects. We will start off with some short gestural poses to warm up, and move into longer holds. There will not be instruction offered during this class, this is an opportunity for focused personal practice and experience! Headphones and snacks are welcome. Cost is $10, we encourage you to register online, but drop-ins are welcome. See website for schedule.

Life Drawing Wednesday nights 7:00-9:00 pm. Schedule changes posted on our blog (click above). Session fee is $9.00. Easels, tables, drawing benches provided. The session consists of five 3-minute poses followed by one or two poses for the session. The art model poses for 45 minutes, breaks for 15 minutes, and poses for 45 minutes. The ACVR building is locked after 4:00pm. The door will be opened for life drawing participants from 6:40-7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm call Telephone: 651-278-5128 and someone will come downstairs to open the door for you.

We will have live, nude figure drawing sessions twice a month on the second Saturday from 10:30am-1:30pm and the fourth Thursday from 7:00-9:00pm. More dates may be added in the future. Models will work with Art Works Eagan to provide a variety of poses and lengths. Tables and chairs are provided, must bring own materials. Only non-odorous materials permitted. Each session is $10 per person per session. Dates and cost are subject to change; complete and up to date information is available on our website.

Figure Study group meets every Wednesday, drawing or painting from nude models. Morning is short poses from 9:00am-Noon. Afternoon is one long pose from 12:45-3:30pm. Drop-ins are welcome. $18 per half day or $28 for full day. 10-week subscriptions are available for a nicely discounted rate. Bring your art materials, odorless solvents only. Easels, horses, drawing boards, tables and chairs, microwave, refrigerator, coffee and tea supplied. Bring your own lunch and stay during our noon break. The group meets 9:30am-1:30pm on Thursdays, working from a single four-hour pose in a congenial setting. The cost is $15; easels, benches and tables are provided. The Minneapolis Drawing Workshop has sponsored weekly drawing sessions, as well as other activities, since 1995. We are always interested in talking to prospective models. Figure drawing open studio Tuesdays 7:00-9:00pm during the academic year (September- April). Nude figure art models for any media other than photography. Fee for non-Blake high school students is $3, $5 post secondary and adults. This program brings young and old together in a comfortable location by the Walker Art Center. Life Drawing Co-op. Sundays 1:00-5:00pm and Mondays 7:00-9:00pm. These open drawing sessions focus on drawing from the live art model. Drawing boards, drawing horses and easels are provided. An MCAD staff member is present to facilitate the co-op, however there is no instruction available. Cost per session is $6 (Sundays) and $5 (Mondays) for general public; $4 for MCAD alumni, faculty and staff; no charge for MCAD degree-seeking students. No registration required. We do not run the co-op during the weeks in between our semesters.

Figure classes are in both drawing and painting. Pencil, charcoal, pastel and oil are used depending on the class and student. Life drawing is at the core of any serious program of fine arts. Each drawing is created over a period of several sessions, developing the student's eye for accurate proportions, gesture, and anatomy.

We meet every Thursday evening from 7:00-9:00pm. The cost is $10 and includes refreshments. This is a figure drawing session with nude models. We do short poses the first hour and two longer poses the second hour. There are horses, tables, chairs or stools, easels and drawing boards available. Artists may bring their own favorite portable easels. Studio opens at 6:00pm and there is a coffee shop in the building.

Life Drawing - Drawing the figure is one of the great traditions still practiced in the visual arts, and it provides the foundation of much of what is important in drawing. It is also great fun, challenging and learnable. In this class we will explore and grow our understanding and expression of the human form through drawing the nude art model. Techniques of contour and gesture drawing, as well as blocking in and shading will be covered. Anatomical concepts important to the artist will be discussed. No experience necessary. Must be 18 or have written permission from parents.
