Figure Drawing: The human figure continues to be a source of artistic
knowledge and inspiration. Working from live art models (clothed and nude)
and exploring drawing mediums, learn about proportion, gesture,
composition and modeling of form through effective use of light and shadow.
Portrait Drawing: Start by learning to draw the head from a plaster
model, then move to a live art model. Learn about basic anatomy and
correct proportions of the human head, which will allow you to correctly
organize and position facial features. Classes begin with quick
sketching and then move to extended drawing. Techniques include pencil, crayon, and charcoal.

Life Drawing held at Millennium Place in Whistler every Monday 4:30-6:30pm
and every Wednesday 9:30am-12:30pm. Sessions are open
to everyone from beginners to accomplished artists. The regular
session starts with short (under one minute) gesture poses so the
participants and art model can loosen up, allowing artists focus to
become fluid and spontaneous. The session then usually progresses
to longer poses where the participants have time to focus on the
details such as shadows, facial features, fingers and toes. There
are usually one or two breaks per session to give the model some time to rest.
