Figure Drawing: The human figure continues to be a source of artistic knowledge and inspiration. Working from live models (clothed and nude) and exploring drawing mediums, learn about proportion, gesture, composition and modeling of form through effective use of light and shadow.
Portrait Drawing: Start by learning to draw the head from a plaster model, then move to a live model. Learn about basic anatomy and correct proportions of the human head, which will allow you to correctly organize and position facial features. Classes begin with quick sketching and then move to extended drawing. Techniques include pencil, crayon, and charcoal.

Every Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:30. Everyone attending must register. The usual turnout is between 20 and 30 people, at every level from beginners to professionals. Easels are not provided by the workshop; you bring your own. Our workshop has been running for over 20 years. It is probably the largest and cheapest in Ottawa. The class is co-operative and non profit. You only pay for the sessions that you attend—currently $4 including coffee, tea, and a snack. Everyone helps with the room set-up before the session and then helps in the clean-up afterwards as much as they are able.

Studio Technique is a classical drawing school, focusing on figure drawing. We offer courses of all levels, from beginner to professional. We have been doing artistic training at the video game studios in Montreal for several years and offer specialized classes for studios as well. There are several sessions of uninstructed drawing each week for casual artists. We have nude and costumed models, both male and female. Poses range from short gestures to extended studies.
