Drawing New York hosts several drawing session a week. Session are uninstructed figure drawing, instructed still life classes and costumed live model sessions. We meet in a few locations around the Union Square in Manhattan and also in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. All levels are welcome. Artist and students should bring their own drawing supplies or watercolors. Chairs, tables and light weight easels are provided. Session run between $15 and $25. The Draw-mania! draw-a-thon is a monthly figure drawing party and variety show for artists. We feature some of New York's top art models in a variety of poses (from very short to 20-minute poses) to inspire your creativity. Bring your own drawing materials. Figure Drawing and Painting with Rob Zeller — This course is designed to give artists of all levels a strategy in approaching drawing and painting of the human form. While the techniques taught will be classical in nature, there will be room for creativity. We begin by learning to convert the great masses of the body into specific shapes, using both linear contour and structural building blocks. Different types of classical proportions will be discussed, as well as different methods of measuring in a perceptual manner. One of the main goals of this course is to teach the artist to see the body as having architectural structure, and understanding how to translate that concept into 2-dimensional form.

• Open Model Studio. Thusdays 12:30-6:00pm. Draw or paint the clothed model in a friendly casual environment. Chairs, tray tables and wooden easels are provided. Fee is $10 per session, the model time is from 1:00-5:00pm, single pose for two weeks. oil painters please use Gamsol.

Uninstructed Life Drawing is for intermediate and advanced level artists interested in drawing from the figure. Bring your own supplies and drop in any Thursday 12:30-3:00pm. Members $10. The first session of each month will be devoted to clothed portraits.
Instructed classes include Painting the Figure and Drawing Fundamentials 2: The Figure and Still Life.
